Talk. Kea types.
Kea is push-to-talk dictation for your Mac. Hold a key, speak into any text field, and your words land as clean text. It runs fully on your Mac, so it stays private and fast.

Listening

See the difference
You say
“give one hundred mikes of fentanyl and forty of rocuronium then start the sevo at two percent”
Kea writes
Give 100 mcg of fentanyl and 40 mg of rocuronium, then start the sevoflurane at 2%.
How it works
Three moves, one hotkey.
- 1
Hold the key
Press and hold your hotkey anywhere on your Mac. Kea starts listening the moment you do.
- 2
Speak
Say it in plain language. The chromatic pill on screen shows Kea is hearing you.
- 3
It types
Release the key and your words land as clean text right where your cursor is.
What you get
Fast, private, and it spells the hard words.
Fully local and private
Kea transcribes on your Mac with Apple Silicon. Your voice becomes text on the device and never gets uploaded, so it works on a plane or fully offline.
Always-on accuracy
A built-in vocabulary primes hard words like drug names and doses, and a correction dictionary keeps them right every single time.
Works in any app
Email, chat, notes, code, charting. If you can type into a field, you can talk into it with the same hotkey everywhere.
Instant and quiet
Push to talk, release to paste. There is no cloud round trip, so your words show up as fast as you can say them.
Who it is for
Built for people who talk faster than they type.
If your day is full of typing, Kea turns your voice into the text. It shines for clinical notes with tricky drug names, long emails, quick chat replies, and code comments.
Requires an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer).

FAQ
Is it really offline?
Yes. Kea transcribes on your Mac with a local model. Once installed it runs with no internet, and your audio never leaves the device.
Which Macs does it run on?
Any Apple Silicon Mac, meaning M1 or newer. Intel Macs are not supported because the local model needs the Apple Silicon chip.
How does the license work?
One payment unlocks Kea for good. The license is a small offline key, so activation does not need an account or a live server.
Does Kea store my recordings?
No. Audio turns into text on the fly and is then discarded. There is no saved history of your voice.
Can it handle technical words?
Yes. Kea ships with a vocabulary tuned for hard terms like drug names and doses, and you can add your own words to the dictionary.
How do I try it?
Download the app and hold your hotkey to start talking. The 14-day trial runs the full app with no card required.
